Air Purifiers

Air purifiers can be very effective for mold. The best would be a central air or whole house air purifier. This attaches to a furnace and even if the furnace is off it still circulates clean air. Mold and mildew control products can provide some relief but the best prevention is dry air and keeping surfaces clean. Even if you do not suffer from allergies, removing molds and mildew from the air is a good idea. Timbor can not be used for mold control. This product is an insect control and will not affect mold or mildew. Air control mold purifiers need to contain a HEPA filter as mold spores are incredibly tiny. As a HEPA filter is used, it actually starts to work more efficiently as smaller and smaller particles can become trapped as the filter is filled with the larger particles. Single room purifiers are ineffective overall for someone suffering from an allergy unless it is placed right beside their bed and then only effective while the person is right next to the purifier.

Serious Mold Problems

Fumigation and mold control is successfully done using chlorine dioxide generators. This is a costly solution but may be the only way to reclaim a home or building when mold takes over. Usually this is reserved for a business or government building and not a private home. Mold eventually destroys all that it grows on and whole home fumigation may end up being less costly than total replacement.
